Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) Exam Review:
There are currently no CPPB Eman Review's scheduled.
SETAPP's educational emphasis has been primarily on NIGP seminar
offerings, with a growing enhancement on additional topics. This has proven
to be ideal for those individuals in governmental procurement who want to
improve/update purchasing techniques and skills, improve purchasing power,
and increase overall knowledge of procurement. NIGP and SETAPP are both
committed to help equip public procurement professionals with the necessary
educational skills and tools to assure a sound knowledge base while adding
value to public sector purchasing.
Seminars developed by NIGP are designed to reflect U.S. and Canadian practices
in public purchasing and increase the practical knowledge and management
skills of the participants. The needs of novice and experienced public purchasing
officials are addressed in seminars that are conducted by qualified, experienced,
and certified purchasing officials. Recently, NIGP has thoroughly revised
and updated their seminars and written materials. See
the complete list of NIGP seminar offerings.
Professional certification is an integral part of the educational program.
Certification was established to provide a standard for evaluating the qualifications
of any public purchasing official. It is designed to certify the public
purchaser as either a Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO) or a Certified
Professional Public Buyer (CPPB). For more information on the certification
program see
the NIGP Certification Information page.
Certificates of Training and Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be awarded
to all who attend the full sessions. The pre-requisite seminars may be used
as part of the requirements for the Certified Public Purchasing Officer
(CPPO) and/or the Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) programs administered
by the NIGP/NASPO Universal Public Purchasing Certification Council (UPPCC).
All chapter sponsored programs and seminars may be used for the re-certification
process.
A participant missing any portion of a NIGP seminar must make up the missed
hours by taking that portion of the seminar if they wish to receive credit
for the seminar. A participant may audit the seminar when it comes to their
local area, or they may complete the home study chapter questions for the
portion of the seminar that was missed (home study chapter questions applicable
only for General Public Procurement, Intermediate Public Procurement, and
Advanced Public Procurement seminars). The participant must notify the instructor
(during the original seminar) with the reason for the absence. The participant
must follow-up with a phone call to NIGP's Administrative Education Assistant,
800-FOR-NIGP, ext. 240 within 5 days of seminar's end. An Audit Seminar
Absence Voucher will then be issued. (The Chapter will be invoiced for the
participant.) The Voucher is to be used for admission to the audited seminar.
The participant must provide the instructor and/or the Seminar Coordinator
the Voucher to be forwarded with the class participant information sheets.
A seminar completion certificate will be mailed from NIGP upon completion
of the audited seminar or the home study chapter questions and receipt of
the Audit Seminar Absence Voucher.
